Tips For Safe Driving- Be A Better Driver

Accidents on the road are no joke. Don’t you hate the idiots who cause the big jams on the freeway? Or the idiot who drank too much and flipped his car over? I cannot believe why these people can’t follow some basic rules. Here are some tips for a safe drive.

1. Adjust your mirrors– Always

No, they are not always to be used for makeup! Rear view and side view mirrors should both be adjusted before you drive. Don’t rely on the fact that you may have adjusted them the last time you took your car out. You never know who has been driving your ride or if the mirrors have simply changed their position. How annoying is it to be driving and adjusting the mirrors at the same time? They distract you and hinder your vision– don’t take the chance. Make it a routine and don’t start your car before you adjust your mirrors.

2. Save the phone for later

It makes my blood boil to see people yapping away on the phone while driving. Get off the mobile phones people! It is a major distraction– it distracts your senses and impairs your judgement. It’s just not worth it. Personally, I suggest that you stay away from taking any call. If you must take one, make sure you have an approved hands free kit.

3. Put the indicator to good use

Okay, this tip is not only for others but also for you. Let me tell you how. For starters, it’ll be a massive help to the other drivers on the road if you indicate early. Don’t you hate it when you need to jam your breaks for the driver in front of you who forgot to put his indicator on? Second, if you actively put this into habit, it will also keep you alert and ‘switched on’ before and while you make that turn. I used to have this nasty habit of waiting until the last moment to indicate. Not anymore, after someone bumped into me while I was switching lanes on the freeway. After $15,000 in damages and the shit scared out of me– I have learnt my lesson!
