A pregnancy is called an ectopic pregnancy when the egg fertilizes and starts growing outside of the womb. The fetus can grow either on the wall of the uterus or in the fallopian tube. A fetus growing in these places can never come to full term and the pregnancy must be terminated as soon as possible.

2. Why is it dangerous?

It is dangerous because it is abnormal and a fetus growing outside of the womb can cause pressure to the other internal organs of the mother. Not only this, the fetus will not have space to grow o get nutrients. This pressure will cause a lot of bleeding and can de fatal to both the fetus and the mother.

3. What causes ectopic pregnancy?

Although it is very rare, ectopic pregnancy occurs and the causes aren’t very clear. There are chances of an ectopic pregnancy if there has been a previous instance. Infections, damaged tubes or uterus and other hormonal irregularities can also cause ectopic pregnancies.
