7. Samuel L. Jackson was very keen on making a cameo appearance on the show. This happened when he was shooting for ‘The Avengers’ at a studio nearby, and he thought it’d be nice if he could just walk in, in his Nick Fury costume at the Los Pollos Hermanos chicken restaurant to order something. However, the producers didn’t allow that.
8. The blue meth shown in the series is actually a creative liberty taken by the makers of the show. The science consultant to the show, Dr. Donna Nelson mentioned that when colorless elements are crystallized, they usually have a yellowish tinge because of impurities present in them. But since the makers wanted a signature kind of meth for Walt, they chose blue!
9. Everyone knows that Vince Gilligan was associated with the ‘The X-Files’. But not many know that he had, in fact, written a few films as well, that too, rom-coms! His first one happened to be ‘Wilder Napalm’, a comedy tale of two brothers who are competing for the same woman!
10. Los Pollos Hermanos actually doesn’t exist for real. The building is actually a Twisters restaurant in Albuquerque!
11. Originally, Walt was supposed to be directly responsible for Jane’s death. The initial idea of the script was that he would push her head back so that she would choke. However, in the final version, he had accidentally knocked her on her back, and did nothing as she choked herself.
12. Once while shooting, actress Julia Minesci was actually propositioned by a van driver. Since there were multiple cars being used in production, she thought the driver was probably an actor too, till she was informed later that he wasn’t part of the crew! So much for playing the role of a meth-addicted prostitute so convincingly!
What’s also interesting to know is that the show was originally set in Riverside, California! The makers shifted it to Albuquerque to get a tax rebate on production. Also, the blue meth shown in the series is actually rock candy!
