6. The day of Prince George’s christening and baptism is only the third day that the royal baby was out in full public view. The first instance was on the day after he was born and the second was when his official portraits were taken by Michael Middleton, his grandfather.

7. The names of Prince George’s godparents have not yet been released but he is expected to have about six godparents. William also had six godparents but the Queen and Charles had seven and eight godparents respectively.

8. On the day of his christening, Prince George received a silver gilt cup as a gift from the Queen, his grandmother. This cup is a family heirloom and dated back to 1773.

9. At the celebratory reception held after the service, the royal family will serve the top tier of a fruitcake made by master baker Fiona Cairns for Kate and William’s wedding in 2011.

10. To commemorate the historic event of Prince George’s christening, the British royal mint will release special collectors’ edition £5 coins. The Canadian royal mint will also issue a special series of collector coins and limited edition Prince George stamps.
