6 Signs Your Teenager is Depressed

4. Social withdrawal

A major sign of depression is social withdrawal. If your teenager is going through depression, then you are likely to notice a drop in his/her social interactions. Your teenager may stop talking to his/her friends and may not seem to enjoy talking to you as well. Do not take this sudden disinterestedness lightly and make sure you talk things out with your teenager.

5. A drop in academic performance

If you find a sudden drop in your teenager’s grades, then this could be a sign that he/she is suffering from depression. A depressed state of mind is bound to affect your teenager’s focus and concentration. So, if your teenager’s grades start dropping for no apparent reason, do not take this lightly.

6. Physical inactivity and lack of energy

If your teenager seems perpetually lethargic and de-motivated about everything around him/her, then it could be a sign of depression. You would often find him or her simply lying on the couch with no enthusiasm for anything. A teenager could get stuck in this phase for long and you must motivate him/her to come out of it and think of solutions and not the problem.
