Petra is an archaeological city in Jordan that is known for its rock cut architecture. Although under ruins now, this city had a phenomenal water harnessing system which solved the city’s problem of water scarcity, in spite of being in a drought-prone desert. The rock cut architecture, the water supply system and the Byzantine mosaics that you’d find here would surely entice you.
3. Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is a magnificent statue of Jesus Christ that soars to a height of 130 feet and is 98 feet wide! This grandiose statue, weighing 635 tonnes, is located at the peak of the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This statue is a close-to-impossible feat that took 9 years to take form.
4. Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian Inca site that was built nearly 8000 feet above sea level during the 15th century! Addressed as the The Lost City of the Incas, this architectural masterpiece was built with polished dry-stone walls. It reveals a noticeable influence of the Inca style of architecture.
