ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease where the patient loses the functions in his or her muscles gradually and ends up paralyzed and dead in a few years. The recent ice bucket challenge with its celebrity endorsement has brought about awareness about ALS and is instrumental in raising a lot of funds for the research about the disease.
