Frequent Urination in women is a term used to describe the need or the urge to urinate every two hours or more. This can be a painful and often embarrassing experience for a lot of women and this can be quite a hassle if you are in the middle of a meeting or travelling long distances without a rest room in sight. There are a lot of reasons for this problem in women. Frequent urination can be treated depending on the cause and it is important to know what is causing it. Here are some reasons that may cause frequent urination in women. The important thing is that you consult a physician if you are feeling the urge one too many a times.

1. UTI or Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary Tract Infection happens when bacteria enter the bladder through the urethra. An infection can occur due to a lot of reasons. It could be because of diabetes, use of excessive antibiotics, sexually transmitted diseases, a surgery or even dirty clothes and water. In this case, not only will you experience frequent urination but urinating will also prove to be a painful exercise. Go see a physician immediately as untreated infections can leave you scarred for life.

2. Overactive bladder

An overactive bladder is another reason for frequent urination. An overactive bladder can be the result of weak pelvic muscles, nerve damage, being overweight and lack of estrogen (common after menopause).
