Is Manipulation In a Relationship Good?

4. Manipulation changes the very equation in relationships

A relationship is fundamentally based on the ideals of equality and space for individual expression. However, manipulation changes this equation in the relationship. It will become a question of power, of who controls whom.

5. Manipulation is abusive in nature

One may not do it knowingly or with the intention of hurting the feelings of their lover or spouse, but manipulation in relationships often leads to emotional and psychological abuse. The manipulated party will feel played but defenseless and the manipulating party will have a false sense of power and security. Either way, it is not good for a healthy relationship.

“You do this or else I will never forgive you”, “I didn’t want to but I did because you wanted me to”, these expressions are subtle signs of a person trying to manipulate the other. If you are finding such a situation in your life, beware, be assertive and take a stand because manipulation is not good for any relationship.
