How To Use Essential Oils?

Essential oils, used in aromatherapy, are well known but the utility of essential oils is multifaceted. Essential oils can be used regularly at home. As we know, essential oils are not to be used in their pure form but need to be diluted. Home remedy

Using essential oils in water has been practiced since time immemorial. The usage is based on the therapeutic value of the essential oil used. You can use eucalyptus oil for congestion by adding 4-5 drops to a bowl of hot water or sandalwood or peppermint oil for stress relief. You can take a foot bath by adding either 6-7 drops of any of these oils or a mixture of tea tree, lemon, juniper and mint to a bucket of hot water to clean feet and prevent infections. A cold press of apricot oil or Aloe Vera can be a great face cleanser depending on the skin type. Grapeseed oil cleanses oily skin. You can make a room freshener by adding 8 drops of essential oils like rose or sandalwood or rosewood to 2 ounces of water in a spray bottle. This can be used in the rooms as well as bathrooms to keep it clean. For the bathroom, you can also make one with lemon oil.

For baths

Essential oils are added to baths, mostly as mixes. You can add 2 drops each of lavender oil, cedarwood and bergamot oil, for relaxation. For providing relief from nervousness, add 6 drops of geranium and 4 drops of basil oil to hot water. You can get a vitalizing bath just by adding 3 drops of rosemary and 2 drops of lemon oil to the bath water. Have a good night’s sleep by soaking 4 drops of chamomile oil with 2 drops neroli, 2 drops lavender and 2 drops marjoram in a hot bath. The same can be used in a spa bath or a jacuzzi.

For massage

From foot massage to complete body massage, aromatherapy can help in many ways and relieve a patient of many ailments. A mix of jasmine, ylang-ylang and rosewood massage acts as a great aphrodisiac. Using a mixture of pine and cypress oil helps to vitalize the mind and body by de-stressing. Kindle the brain with oils like ginger, sandalwood, angelica, patchouli and clary sage or a mixture of them. They can also be used to boost your confidence. To boost your ego, massage with a blend of blue spruce, franincense, tansy and rosewood. A citrus mix that of lemon, grapefruit, mandarin and spearmint can really make your creative juices flow.
