Beating throughout to keep us alive, the heart is the most important organ in our body. It is essential for us to keep it healthy. A healthy heart results in a healthy mind and a sound body. There is a very common misconception that heart problems are only for the aged and the sick. Well, that is where we go wrong. The heart doesn`t know the age of a person. 1. Exercise regularly
Walk for at least half an hour a day. If age permits, jogging would be much more beneficial. However, jogging is not suggested for old people and those suffering from arthritis and other ailments as it may cause joint pain and fatigue. Exercise keeps heart rate normal and healthy.
2. Have a nutritious diet
Diet is definitely not starving yourself to death in order to avoid fattening foods or cholesterol. Controlling the amount of food you eat and also maintaining a certain and proper schedule for eating is essential. Avoid fats and carbohydrates to a maximum extent. French fries and white bread are a few to start with. Junk food should be totally avoided. While fish is good for the body, excessive amount of red meat can do more harm than good. So, you are too fond of red meat, you can at least reduce the amount of meat that you consume.
