How Plastic Surgery Makes Your Lips Luscious And Beautiful

Fat

Fat from your own body can be injected into your lips for a fuller look. There is usually less or almost no level of risk for allergic reaction and you may achieve permanent results. My tip – Such fat can also be implanted via surgery. Explore your options and remember that if you gain weight, your lips may enlarge because fat cells will grow.

Restylane

Restylane is a clear and bio degradable gel which is usually absorbed by the body in six months of injection, depending on body type.

Created from natural body substances known as hyaluronic acids, Hylaform carries less risk of infection. This is a temporary fix and you will need repeated treatments.

If you are not wanting a permanent fix and want to minimize risk of infection, Autologen may be for you. Your own collagen, extracted from another part of your body is injected in your lips.

Collagen

Collagen can also be extracted from cows. It can have allergic reactions and results are temporary. Okay, I have to be honest – The thought of pulling substances out of a cow and then injecting them in my body does not appeal to me.

This one is not for me because it just sounds eeky but Dermalogen can also be injected, which is nothing but collagen that is extracted from deceased human donors. This is a temporary fix and there are chances that your body may reject it.

Lip Plastic Surgery – Implants/Surgeries

Implants or surgeries can be temporary or permanent. You will go under the knife and the procedure may take up to 3 hours.

Fat grafting

Yeah you guessed right, it involves inserting fat from your own body into your lips to attain the desired shape. Experts say that because it is your own fat, there are chances that it may be reabsorbed.

Probably one of the most invasive procedures, Local Flap Grafts will remove tissue from the insides of your mouth and will be inserted/used to shape your lips as required. I think I am going to stay away from this one.

A sheet of collagen that is made from deceased humans, known as Alloderm can be inserted through tiny incisions in the lips. This one is a not-so-temporary fix and can last from 12 to 18 months.

If you want to steer clear from human fats, there are many synthetic materials like SoftForm, soft ePTFE, and Goretex that can be used to achieve a permanent result. You should know that these materials will not be absorbed by your body and there is a risk of allergic reaction.

Healing time

I think I’ve loaded you with enough information to give you a clear picture of what lies ahead. Giving enough time for any procedure to heal is very important and I want to nail this thought through. Procedures involving injections may require a few days to a week to heal. Surgical procedures on the lips may require weeks to heal. Load yourself with creams, ointments, medicines, and foods – all that your doctor has ordered. If you have unnatural swelling or fever after any procedure, run to the doc.

I’ll now tell you that it has been 8 months since I had plastic surgery done on my lips. I went for the synthetic option – Goretex. It was out of personal choice. I was well aware of the side effects and the risks involved. Touch wood, the procedure has had fantastic results and I feel great. I never thought that adding a bit of shape and oomph to my lips would have such a drastic change in my confidence levels. This is the first time for me to go under the knife for cosmetic reasons and I have no regrets. And if you want my opinion, I’d say do it if it feels right. I get goose bumps all over me when guys stare at my lips. I am not sure if it is the boost in self esteem and self confidence or the addiction to push your beauty level up one notch, but it is very exciting. So if you think that lip plastic surgery is the way to go – do your homework and be prepared for exciting times ahead!
