5 Foods that are Very Bad for Your Skin

Acne, wrinkles, blemishes, dark circles – there are host of skin problems we face every day. Sometimes, the beauty consciousness makes us so addicted to the commercials that we end up buying everything money can for an attractive skin. Unfortunately, we realize later that to bring back the actual glow we need to work from inside out. And yes, what you take inside reflects outside, so you have to be very careful about what you eat. Much has been told about what to eat, and not the other way round. So, let us take the other route and check out 5 foods that are considered bad for your skin.

1. Sugar

Sugar is something which you cannot avoid unless you are a diabetic. But too much of sugar can also lead to skin problems. High sugar content in your blood can damage skin-friendly protein collagen, leading to wrinkles and fine lines. On reducing sugar, you can feel the difference in your skin. It becomes clearer and more vibrant. If you still cannot resist those candies, turn to fruits.

2. Salt

If you are in your 40s and concerned about your skin, then slow down your salt consumption. Well, don’t think it’s applicable only when you hit 40s. Lowering your salt as early as possible will only do you good. But, when you reach your middle age, the effect of too much salt will reflect on your face easily in the form of puffiness under your eyes. Excess salt leads to water retention and swelling. So, the lesser the salt, the lesser you look old.

3. Caffeine

If you are in love with coffee or anything caffeine, you will be disappointed here. Caffeine boosts the cortisol production in the body and results in aging. Its diuretic effect increases the chances of dehydration and can lead to wrinkles and will kill your youthful looks. It will also lead to teeth stains. This again does not mean you have to avoid coffee permanently, but it will be good if you can cut it down. Turn to green tea instead of coffee, as it is a great antioxidant and has less dehydrating effect.
