Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that can be seen in a lot of kids as well as adults. There was not much research or studies on it for a long time and people exhibiting these symptoms were just seen as weirdos or kids with some serious behavioral problems. People with ADHD have problems with attention, are hyperactive and act impulsively that at times are not appropriate for their ages. Although there are a lot of studies these days on this disorder, the real cause for this has not yet been found out. It usually develops between the ages of 6 and 12 and it takes at least six months for it to be diagnosed. Irrespective of having a kid with ADHD, here are some facts that everyone must know about ADHD.

1. It is a real disorder

It is not some fancy name given to the behavioral problems of people. It is scientifically proven that it is a neurological disorder that needs proper medical attention and care. People who get treatment respond positively with reduced symptoms.

2. It affects everyone

It is not something that affects only kids or people of a specific race or ethnicity. People of all ages, IQ’s, races and religion are affected by this disorder. However, little boys are three to more times likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls.

3. It is difficult disorder to diagnose

It is quite difficult to diagnose people with ADHD, especially with kids as many of the symptoms just look like extreme or exaggerated versions of normal behavior. To diagnose the symptoms and behaviour must be persistent for at least six months and have to be severe.

4. People with ADHD suffer from other ailments too

People suffering from ADHD have some other problems associated with it such as sleeping disorders, depression and other anxiety disorders. Everything put together will give a lot of trouble to a person suffering from ADHD.
