5 DIY Facials

Here are some DIY facials that could help you save time and money! (Remember that all facial massages are to be first done clock wise and then anti-clock wise. Do not apply anything on your eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, nostrils, and ears.)

1. Fruit facial (for all skin types and all seasons)

Step one: Cleanse
Damp a towel with warm water and slowly wipe your face. Take 1 tsp yogurt and add 2 tsp olive oil and ½ tsp lemon oil. Try and massage gently over the skin with this mixture. Wipe it off with a damp wash cloth.
Step Two: Exfoliate
Cook oatmeal before hand and leave it aside. Mix 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp olive oil and add it to 3 tsp cooked oatmeal. Now, softly rub your face skin with this scrub. Wash your face with warm water and pat it dry.
Step Three: Lift and tighten
Mix 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice with 2 tbsp plain yogurt and apply on your face and neck. It will tighten your skin in about 30 minutes. Now is the time to rinse it with water.
Step Four: Tone
After washing off the mask, brew a cup of green tea and allow it to cool. Use two makeup sponges and dip them in tea. Keep them over your eyes and rest for 15 minutes. You could also use another such sponge to tone your face.
Step Five: Moisturize
Grind 1 tbsp oatmeal. Boil a cup of water and add fennel seeds to it. Brew the seeds for 10 minutes and then strain the tea. Throw the seeds away and mix honey, ground oatmeal, and tea to the water. Leave this mixture on your face and neck for 20 minutes.

2. Herbal facial (for all skin types and all seasons)

Step One: Cleanse
Clean your face with water. Grate a potato and gently rub it for about 5 minutes on your face and neck. Use a tissue dipped in cold water to wipe your face.
Step Two: Exfoliate
Mix 1 tbsp rice flour or oats with 1 tbsp mashed papaya and rub the mixture over your skin for 2 minutes. Let it remain for 5 minutes. Wipe using a damp cold tissue.
Step Three: Tone
Steam your face with tea bags boiled in hot water. Do it for 5 minutes. Take one or two ice cubes and gently rub them over your face. This will help in closing the open pores on your face skin.
Step Four: Moisturize
Mash a banana and add honey and coconut milk/water or orange juice. After one massage, add few drops of olive/almond oil and massage again. Keep massaging for 10 minutes. Use a tissue dipped in cold water to wipe off.

3. Natural facial (for all skin types and all seasons)

Step One: Cleanse
Clean your face with unpasteurized milk using a sponge. Dip the sponge into apple cider vinegar or lemon juice and rub it gently to clean your face.
Step two: Tone
Tone your skin with 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp milk cream mixed together. Leave it for 3 minutes and wash your face with warm water.
Step Three: Exfoliate and mask
In a grinder, mix 2 tsp plain yogurt, 1 kiwi fruit, almond oil, honey, and orange water. Make a paste and rub it over for 2 minutes. Leave it as a mask for 10 minutes on your face and neck. Rinse using warm water.
Step Four: Moisturize
In a bowl, mix one egg white, orange juice, lemon juice, rose water, and olive oil. Apply this mixture on your face gently and let it remain for 20 minutes. Wash using cold water. This will make your skin soft and supple.
