6. Cardiovascular disease

Sleep deprivation has been directly linked to cardiovascular disorders. Lack of sleep leads to increase in the stress hormones in the body. This affects the overall health of the heart. This stress hormone is also known to damage blood vessels which may lead to high blood pressure. And higher blood pressure has a direct connection to depleting heart health.

7. Diabetes

One of the other disadvantages of sleep deprivation is that it can lead to diabetes. As mentioned before, lack of sleep leads to reduced metabolism and hampers the body’s ability to digest glucose. This has been claimed to be one of the reasons which leads to diabetes as well as obesity.
