5 Best Hikes in America

4. Pacific Crest Trail

The Pacific Crest Trail is one of the most significant hiking and horse riding trails in America as it runs across the nation from north to south. The southernmost end of this trail lies on the border that America shares with Mexico and the northernmost end lies on the border that America shares with Canada. The trail is approximately 2600 miles long and crosses 25 national forests and 7 national parks. Hikers are known to be charmed by this trail as it avoids passing through civilized areas and offers the best scenic view of wilderness and mountains. The Pacific Crest Trail is the second largest trail of the Triple Crown of Hiking which also includes the Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide Trail.

5. Kalalau Trail

This scenic trail runs along the Na Pali coast of Kauai in Hawaii. It is approximately only 11 miles long but it is known to be a very strenuous trail for hikers. Camping and resting at many spots along the trail including Kalalau Beach need official permits. Experienced hikers are known to find this trail exciting because it becomes difficult when it crosses streams that rise rapidly. The most difficult part begins after Hanakapiai Beach where the trail ascends in height to about 800 feet above sea level over an approximate of one mile only.
