6. Lord Buddha

The irony of Buddhism is that, although Prince Siddhartha aka Lord Buddha, who founded the religion was from India, his followers are mainly from South East Asia. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Singaporean people follow Buddhism. India is the only country which has invented 2 majorly followed religions; Hinduism and Buddhism.

7. Spices

The western world has been introduced to spices, largely because of India which is the biggest exporter of spices in the world. Cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, chillies, mustard, rye, peppers and various other exotic spices have been discovered and promoted by India.

8. Kohinoor diamond

The precious and world’s largest diamond, the Kohinoor, was discovered in India and forcibly taken away by the British while they were ruling the country. The jewel now sits pretty as a rare commodity in an English museum.

9. Taj Mahal

Among the seven wonders of the modern as well as the ancient world is the eternal symbol of love, Taj Mahal which stands tall in Agra. It is the most lauded piece of architecture in the world because it was made wholly with white marble, studded with precious jewels, in perfect symmetry in the technologically backward times of the 17th century.
