High blood pressure is quite a dangerous thing to have if you are someone who does not take good care of your body and watch what you eat. A really high blood pressure can lead to strokes, heart attacks and other serious health problems. If you cannot avoid stress that also leads to high blood pressure, you should at least take good care of what you eat. There are some foods that you need to avoid eating when you have a high blood pressure and here are some of them. Remember that some of these foods are really tasty and quite harmless to look at. You should however resist the temptation to gorge on these foods if you do not want to hike up your blood pressure.

1. Pickles

Pickles are really low in calories and taste very good. But pickles also come loaded with sodium. Even a small pickle can make you exceed the amount of sodium that you should be taking in a day. If you want to keep your blood pressure normal, stay off the pickles.

2. Canned chicken soup

Chicken soup has a lot of curative properties. It is good when you make it fresh. Even though it is a comfort food, it can be quite dangerous when you go for the canned soup as with canned soup you have no control over the amount of salt you add. Salt is the important preservative used in canned foods and salt is something you need to avoid in excess quantities if you have a high blood pressure.

3. Sauerkraut

If you think this is a good veggie addition to your meal and also low in calories, you should rethink as these too come loaded with salt. Avoid this if you have high blood pressure.

4. French fries

Even if the fast food places have changes their oils and fry the potatoes in trans-fat free oils, this snack is still dangerous for you as it is high in fat content and also salt.

5. Bacon

Bacon is mostly fat and salt and something you should seriously stay away from. If you must have bacon, you should try the low salt bacon or turkey bacon where the fat content is low.
