8 International Sandwiches You Must Try at Least Once

There are so many different kinds of cuisines in this world that the sheer variety of food is mind boggling. Talking specifically of sandwiches, they are made with various ingredients and breads across the planet. Also, the way in which they are made and crafted is an art in itself and most of them are the pride of their localities. Here are some interesting types of sandwiches found in the world.

1. Open sandwiches

As can be deciphered by the name, open sandwiches are not closed between two slices of bread but consist of only one. The toppings are similar to any normal sandwich and one has to eat with their hand placed below the bread slice, somewhat like a pizza.

2. Closed tea sandwiches

Closed tea sandwiches, as can be known by the name, are sandwiches served during tea time along with tea and other snacks. They are delicate in nature and contain only the soft parts of the bread with the crusts trimmed off. The most common fillings are cucumber, butter and tomatoes and they are served chilled.

3. BLT

BLT is short form for bacon, lettuce and tomatoes; the three key ingredients with which these popular sandwiches are made of. They are served as triple decker sandwiches and are thus quite heavy on the stomach. This dish has been around since Roman times which makes it a somewhat ancient recipe.

4. Paninis

Paninis are Italian sandwiches that are not made of sliced bread. They are made of breads like ciabatta, rosetta and baguette. The bread is cut horizontally and filled with deli ingredients such as salami, ham, cheese and mortadella and sometimes served warm after having been pressed by a warming grill.
