8 Beauty Shortcuts to Avoid

5. Using dirty brushes

If you have to apply makeup, make sure you use proper brushes which are your own. The last thing you want to do is use a dirty brush or use your friend’s brush to save time. You will only end up contaminating your own skin, incurring tremendous harm. In fact, those who are finicky about skin care usually keep a back-up set that travels around with them, so that they never are too far away from their own makeup kit. Besides, if you don’t have time to clean your brushes, you have a clean set that can be used for the time being.

6. Using blow driers at a high temperature

This is a very common mistake with women. In order to dry their wet hair very quickly, they use high temperature setting with their hair dryer. This doesn’t augur well for their hair in the long run. In fact, they end up becoming very brittle very soon. It is important to use the right settings on your hairdryer. If you are in a hurry, it is best not to get your hair wet at all.

7. Popping zits

This is a painful shortcut many women take. However, in the long run, it doesn’t turn out well for your face. When you pick the pimple or zit, you are transferring bacteria and are enhancing the chances of an infection. Although it feels good to walk to a party without a pimple sticking out on your nose, the scar will remain for a long time as a blemish. Sometimes it could lead to bleeding too.

8. Using tanning creams

So you want to get the tan but don’t have the time to lie on a beach or on a sun terrace? You might be tempted to use one of those creams that help you get a natural tan. However, they score very low on health scales and are not good for the skin in the long run. Allowing dangerous chemicals, some of them even believed to be carcinogenic, just to look tanned is not at all worth it. This is even more important to note when you suffer from skin allergies or have a highly sensitive skin that gets affected by chemicals.
