7 Weird Beauty Rituals from Around the World

5. Bull sperm conditioner

This may sound too crazy to be true but it is a well known fact in England. A posh salon in the country had come up with a hair mask made up of bull semen combined with an Iranian plant called Katera root to benefit and revitalize damaged hair. Supposedly this mixture can do wonders for all types of hair and is especially good to smooth out frizzy hair. Many other companies and salons followed suit and today bull semen conditioner has become a commonality in England.

6. Swallowing worms

Believe it or not but in Edwardian era England, women would swallow yucky slimy tapeworm to keep themselves slim so as to be able to fit into corsets. The parasite would digest most of the food the women ate but they would also degrade their health leading to their early deaths. Also, the corsets they would wear were made of whale bones and would be so bone crushingly tight that they would often fracture their ribs. Thankfully now-a-days women don’t sacrifice their health in order to pay the price of beauty.

7. Dead skin nibbling fish

Although this ritual originated in and is quite a fad in Turkey, it has now spread to quite a few Asian countries. In Turkey, there are many public pools filled with fish which nibble off the dead skin cells off your body. They are apparently great for exfoliating the skin and treating psoriasis besides being a good alternative to scrubbing.
