7 Ways to Stay Fit While Traveling

Many people see holidays as an opportunity to take a break from their diet and fitness regiments thinking that without home food or visits to the gym, they cannot possibly stick to their health routine. This is a commonly shared misconception because those who have the will, will make a way. If you don’t want to return from your holiday heavier, then keep yourself fit by following these simple tips.

1. Make use of the hotel facilities

Most hotels have some or the other sort of health facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, a gym, basketball court, etc. Playing sports will ensure you stay fit. Even if your hotel doesn’t have any of these, you can always use the parking lot or the garden for your morning walk or jog.

2. Walk, walk, walk!

Instead of hailing a cab or any other mode of transport, you can walk up small distances from wherever you are staying. Find out how long the walk will be or simply use navigational maps on your phone, tablet or laptop. Another good idea is using the hotel stairs rather than the elevator.

3. Eat responsibly

Just because you are on a holiday, doesn’t give you the license to treat your body like a garbage dump and hog on any tasty but fattening food you come across. You would regret it when you return to your normal life and realize that your jeans are not fitting you anymore. If you want to taste some local delicacies that don’t look very nutritious, you can always balance them out by eating healthy meals like fruits and salads.

4. Perform basic exercises

Everyday perform simple exercises when you wake up and just before you go to bed. These solo routines don’t require any equipment. Push-ups, crunches, stretches, dancing, on the spot running, jacks, lunges, squats can all be done in the comfort of your hotel room.
