7 Tips to Increase the Battery Life of Your Phone
How many times has it happened that your smartphone starts running out of battery life and you are rendered helpless while on the move? Many times? This is a very common problem people are facing nowadays owing to the smartphone boom and the huge number of apps people use and download these days. The next time you are in a fix like this, try putting these tips to increase the battery life of your phone.
1. Reduce the brightness of the screen
The commonest way to increase your battery life and help maintain it until you get to a power source to charge it is by dimming the brightness of your screen. More light means more power of the battery is used so keep the lighting at the lowest possible option.
2. Keep phone on low sound but not vibrate
Either keep your phone on silent or low voice but not on vibrate when the battery is running low. More power is used up by the handheld device when it is on vibrate rather than when it is on ringtone. This is because a ringtone only has to make a tiny membrane in your phone’s speaker vibrate enough to produce sound while the vibration motor rotates a small weight to make your whole phone shake. That process takes a lot more power.
3. Stop background apps from working
This is something most people are not aware of. Without one knowing, there are various apps running in the background which you must have opened at some point of time but not exited it properly and just directly hit the home screen button. Most touchscreen phones have the option of closing all apps running in the background so stop them and see your battery retain life for longer.
4. Shorten the screen time out
If your screen timeout time frame is of a few minutes, make it a few seconds. Check in your phone’s display settings menu for an option called ‘Screen Timeout’ or something similar. This setting controls how long your phone’s screen stays lit after receiving input or any sort of activation. Android phones perform better here as the minimum for them is 15 seconds while for iPhones it is a whole minute.
