7 Tips for Gifting Flowers

Flowers have been the most favored gifts throughout centuries. You can gift flowers for almost any occasion; Birthdays, Sickness, Valentine’s Day, Anniversaries, weddings, christenings and a lot of other occasions. They make the recipient happy, cry with joy and usually brighten up a dull day. Flowers can mean different things in different cultures and can be interpreted in many ways, so before you gift someone flowers, it is important to know a few things and here are a few tips to help you do just that.

1. Know the recipient

It is always important to know the tastes and preferences of the person you are sending the flowers to. It helps to know in advance if they would like a bouquet, a single flower or an elaborate arrangement. If they are into gardening they might prefer a flowering plant to a bunch of cut flowers. It makes it all the more special when you gift them the flowers that they really like.

2. Colors

Colors can signify a lot of things. Red usually stands for love, while yellow signifies friendship. Again it is not universal and can vary depending upon the culture and beliefs of people. Choose the right color to express what you really want to with the flowers. You wouldn’t want to gift the wrong colors and end up offending the receiver.

3. Meaning

Just like the colors, flowers themselves have different meanings. Some signify friendship and joy while others signify death. The Norwegians and Dutch do not take lightly when gifted carnations, lilies or any white flower.

4. Be creative

If you are someone who likes gifting flowers or expressing yourself with flowers, be creative and mix up the flowers. This way, your gift will be a surprise each time someone receives it. You can’t keep gifting roses all the time. Add some more flowers to make it more cheerful and bright.
