7 Things to Keep in Mind Before Going for a School Reunion

5. Respect the spouses and partners

Many reunions allow people to get their spouses or partners so if you are getting yours along, make sure you introduce him to everyone and don’t ever make him feel left out. Also, if you happen to bump into the partner of your ex flame, be cordial as there is no point thinking about what could have happened since you both have clearly moved on.

6. Be a civilized adult

People often end up behaving the way they did when in school when they see the same set of peers. They tend to start off from where they left off and forget that everyone is now a civilized adult individual. Make sure you don’t brag or lie about stuff to look superior for tomorrow. If someone catches your lie, it would be a shameful thing. Also, you may get to hear and see a lot of surprising things like someone’s immense success or failure, either personally or professionally. Don’t show how appalled or surprised you are and just practice your poker face so as to keep a calm stance at all times.

7. Enjoy, be yourself and be interactive

Remember that the reunion is just a nice way to keep in touch with people and satisfy the inquisitiveness of people who wanted to know what the others of their graduation batch are up to. For better or for worse, after the reunion you have to go back to your current life which is your present reality. So don’t go in with too many expectations and thinking that it’s some sort of competition about who did how in life. Be yourself and take part in discussion and activities so that you are not thought of as a sore thumb sticking out at the do.
