7 Reasons to Stop Multitasking

7 Reasons to Stop Multitasking

Women are known to be good multitaskers when it comes to managing their homes, careers, kids or family members. But that doesn’t mean every single woman in this world is good at multitasking. Here are a few reasons you should stop multitasking, if it is not proving to be productive for you.

1. You may be wasting time

If you are not the kind of woman for whom multitasking is like second nature, you may waste a lot of time by attempting to multitask. You will try to start your first task, start thinking about the second task, abandon the first task and jump straight to the third task. In this way, you will be under the illusion that you are multitasking but in reality, you won’t be achieving anything. Stop multitasking if you don’t want to waste your time.

2. You may leave everything incomplete

Being called a multitasking woman is no good if you are not being productive by doing so. Multitasking becomes a quality only when you can juggle a couple of jobs and actually complete each of them to your satisfaction. Taking up five jobs and leaving all of them incomplete is not the correct definition of multitasking. If you are experiencing something similar, it is a reason good enough for you to stop multitasking.

3. You may become more confused

Have you ever experienced putting some food in the microwave and forgetting all about it because you started checking on your baby in between? Have you overbooked your own appointments by giving the same time slot to different people? Sometimes, taking on too many jobs can create more confusion than clarity. Stop multitasking if you are creating more problems instead of generating more efficiency.

4. You may be slowed down even more

Women generally believe that multitasking will help them save a lot of time. While this is true for some women, it may not be true for most. Flickering your attention from one task to another and back, may take up more energy and time than what you use in doing tasks one after another. If multitasking is slowing you down, you should stop doing it.
