7 Open Relationship Problems You May Face

5. Lying and dishonesty

Dishonesty and lies are considered to be common in open relationship because partners may not feel like confessing all the details of their relationship with other people. This leads to partners in an open relationship to say multiple lies to each other. Like in any relationship, lying and dishonesty lead to arguments which create unnecessary friction between two partners.

6. Problem in social acceptance

Open relationships are often frowned upon by society in general. People don’t acknowledge that a person can have more than one partner at a time. This leads to a problem of being rejected socially. Partners in an open relationship will find it hard to gain acceptance from their friends, parents and siblings. This can lead to depression which affects all other areas of a person’s life including work and personal.

7. Absence of exclusive commitment

The absence of commitment can become a very big problem for partners who have been seeing each other for a long time. It can become tremendously hard for them to commit to each other after being in an open relationship. So when the time comes to settle down, they may not be able to do so. This can eventually lead to the relationship breaking apart.
