7 Movies to Look Forward to in 2012
2011 for Hollywood was exciting to say the least. It gave us fantastic movies; from sequels to fantasies to debut movies. And of course who can forget the highest grossing last installment of the Harry Potter series? So what’s 2012 got in its kitty for you? Let’s find out about the movies to look forward to in 2012.
1. Woman In Black
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Janet McTeer and Ciarán Hinds

What's it about: 'Woman in Black' is adapted for the screen based on Susan's Hill novel of the same name. A young lawyer is sent to a remote village in a British town to look after his recently deceased client's estate. But that house is haunted by a woman who seeks vengeance.
What's in it for you: Recently, the horror genre has seen torture films like 'Saw', 'Hostel' and others like 'Paranormal Activity'. But 'Woman in Black' promises to provide a fresh start by way of an eerie, old fashioned story of a haunting. There's also Daniel Radcliffe to watch out for, with this movie being his first post-Potter film.
2. The Hunger Games
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth

What's it about: Katniss Everdeen, a teenager who lives in a post-apocalyptic world has to compete forcefully in an annual event - 'the hunger games'. It's a televised fight in which 23 other youths have to kill each other and the one who survives is the winner. One boy and a girl is selected from each of the 12 districts of the nation of Panem, which has come up from the ruins of North America.
What's in it for you: After the end of big franchise movies, like 'Harry Potter' and the 'Twilight Series' (which is going to end this November), Hollywood is in need of the next-big thing. The Hunger Games is also an adaptation from the novel of the same name by Susan Collins. Jennifer Lawrence is another actor to look out for in this movie, what with her Oscar nomination in 2011.
3. The Five Year Engagement
Starring: Emily Blunt and Jason Segel

Release Date: April 27, 2012
What's it about: As the title suggests, the movie is about an engaged couple who keep postponing their wedding date due to some or the other reason. As a result, it makes them doubt their relationship and they wonder whether they should get married or not.
What's in it for you: The USP of this romantic comedy is that it starts off where usually all romantic comedies end. There's also a good film cast with Jason Segel and Emily Blunt in the lead. Segel has proved his mettle in this year's terrific 'The Muppets' and Blunt was hard to miss as Meryl Streep's assistant in 'The Devil Wears Prada'.

What's it about: The crew of the spaceship Prometheus discover clues on the origin of mankind on Earth. They explore an alien civilization and fight a battle to save the coming human race.
What's in it for you: It's speculated to be a prequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror film 'Alien'. This calls for anticipation regarding the movie.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man
Starring: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan

Release Date: July 3, 2012
What's it's about: Peter Parker is on a quest to find out his parent's disappearance in his childhood. He comes across a mysterious briefcase which leads him to his father's former partner Dr. Curt Connors. Now, Peter has to fight Connor's alter ego 'The Lizard' and make life changing decisions for himself.
What's in it for you: It will be refreshing to see someone else step in Tobey Maguire's shoes, especially when this Spidey movie is coming after a 5-year break. Also, discovering Spiderman's past is surely going to be interesting.
6. The Dark Knight Rises
Starring: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Liam Neeson, Anne Hathaway,

Release Date: July 20, 2012
What's it about: After eight years in peace, Gotham City witnesses terror and mayhem yet again in the form of terrorist leader Bane. The city's inhabitants and police are driven to the core which forces Batman to resurface after taking blame for Harvey Dent's crimes.
What's in it for you: It's the Dark Knight again - that should be reason enough. For your benefit, they've added Anne Hathaway as one sexy Catwoman, which the trailers seem to be focusing on more than the Dark Knight himself. For Tom Hardy to play the villain after Heath Ledger's marvelous job as Joker, will be challenging to say the least and worth to watch out for.
7. The Great Gatsby
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Amitabh Bachchan
Director: Baz Luhrmann
Release Date: December 25, 2012
What's it about: 'The Great Gatsby' is based on the 1925 novel of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The plot goes about where a young man back from World War I, is fascinated by his neighbor Jay Gatsby who throws lavish parties. As he becomes more involved with his intriguing neighbors, their pasts are revealed, with him witnessing their obsession and doom.
What's in it for you: Firstly, it's directed by Baz Luhrmann, one of the finest directors Hollywood has ever seen. So it's bound to have the perfect drama, splendor and charm that Luhrmann's famous for. Next is the cast; with all top notch actors lining the cast it's a no-brainer that the acting will be stupendous.
