6 Weight Loss Facts

4. The question of carbs

‘Carbs are bad’ is a myth. Carbohydrates are essential for the effective functioning of the human body. However, adding fat to carbs is what is actually unnecessary and fattening. Buttered toast, creamy sauces and fried potatoes are some easy examples. Depending on what your weight loss plan is you can restrict your intake of carbs or allow yourself to have a portion of carbs a few times in a week.

5. Diet sodas are just like other sodas

Is diet soda lower in calories than the regular ones? Well, diet sodas are loaded with artificial sweeteners. Studies suggest that diet sodas maybe linked to heart disease, metabolic syndrome among other things. The fact is that if you want to lose weight, skip the short cut. All sodas contain sugars anyway. The real solution is through healthy eating and a consistent exercise plan.

6. There aren’t any quick fixes

We have seen celebs do it, we have read articles that suggest it, we have even seen advertisements that endorse it. The fact is though, that there are no quick fixes to weight loss. Diet pills are not necessarily good for you and even if you do take them, you need to consult with your doctor and do your research. Substituting healthy eating and exercise with certain foods that “burn fat” is just not going to cut it. While there are certain foods that are less fattening, overindulging in them can do more harm than good for your body. If you want to lose weight, be prepared for the long haul.

Occasional binging on fast food and foods that aren’t branded healthy is allowed to satiate temptation but do not make a habit out of it. Similarly, if you do not want to exercise for a day or two, it is alright as long as it is the exception and not the rule. Now that you have your facts in order, go about planning your weight loss program!
