4. Avoid swimming for the first week after you get your pedicure

Beauty experts recommend that swimming or taking tub baths should be avoided immediately after getting a pedicure. Even lying in the tub will give the skin on your feet excessive exposure to water because of which it might become wrinkly. You should also avoid hitting the pool if you want to let your pedicure last long. The chlorine in the swimming pool can make your nails weak because of which they may chip off easily.

5. Use cuticle oil

You may have noticed the beauticians at your salon applying cuticle oil to your feet while giving you a pedicure. Continue doing this for the first week after you get your pedicure. Cuticle oil is known to prevent skin from getting rough, reduce growth of dead cells around your nails and protect your nail paint from chipping. You can dab ear swabs or cotton balls in cuticle oil and apply it to protect the skin on your cuticle area.

6. Avoid wearing heavy shoes

Covering your feet can help your pedicure to last long but wearing heavy duty foot wear like big leather boots won’t allow your feet to breathe. Avoid wearing big and heavy footwear as they are known to make the skin dry. If you must wear heavy footwear, make sure that your feet breathe from time to time.
