6 Ways to Destress Your Skin

6 Ways to Destress Your Skin

Stress can have a negative impact not just on your mind but also on your body, especially on your skin. If you have been passing though an emotional crisis or you are overworked at office, here are a few ways you can de-stress your skin and make it dewy fresh once again.

1. Get enough rest

Beauty sleep is not a myth because sleep is known to aid the process of cell repair in your skin. If you haven’t been getting an average of seven to eight hours of sleep everyday, you are compromising on the health of your skin. The process of sleeping produces more melatonin in the body which counters cortisol, a hormone the attacks collagen in your skin.

2. Drink more liquid

Dehydration is another reason why your skin may be getting stressed. This can lead to flaking, redness, rashes and acne breakouts. Dehydration is generally linked to psychological stress. It may also be caused due to excessive exposure to air conditioning or direct heat of the sun. To de-stress skin from dehydration, increase your water intake along with fresh juices to replenish water supply in your body. Hyaluronic acid based moisturizing products are also known to keep skin constantly moisturized and dehydration free.

3. Treat your under eye area

When your skin is stressed, your eye bags are likely to become puffy, wrinkled and dark colored. Get rid of this sign of wear and tear by using natural ingredients including cucumber and rose water. Place two large slices of cold cucumber on your eyelids and leave them for five minutes. Repeat the procedure thrice until your eyes feel cool. You can also use dipped tea bags or cotton balls soaked in cold rose water instead of cucumber. Follow this process to cool down and rejuvenate the rest of your facial skin too.
