Ways Facebook Can Ruin Your Friendships

The unique virtual platform called Facebook, which is now a medium to access jobs, connect, meet interesting people and engage in different kinds of activities, helps you primarily connect with friends and people who you would have lost touch with. Today, people have thousands of friends on their friend list and you think how would you have been able to connect with your friends if not for Facebook! But this networking site also has its adverse effects. Here are 6 ways by which Facebook can ruin your friendship.

1. Merely Facebook?

Facebook is the easiest medium to wish your friends on their birthdays, send party or wedding invitations. All you have to do is write on their wall or send a private message greeting them. You don’t even have to create an E-card and a message suffices. This trend is very impersonal and can even hurt some of your friends who would have expected you to at least make a phone call or send an invitation card through email or to your postal address.

2. Friendly arguments can turn nasty

You put up a note or a quote regarding an issue or even create your own status message. It happens that different people respond to it. Some give nasty comments, some agree with you and some even counter you. You might have a difference of opinion with friends but it is not advisable to counter your friends in public. It can sound very humiliating. The chain of comments can turn into ugly fights and can ruin your friendship.

3.”Real” friends

Spending too much time on Facebook can become quite time consuming. You end up spending hours online when you could have very well met up, gone for a sleep over, planed gatherings or even weekend getaways. But when it comes to that everyone is busy or not available. This affects your friendship in a way.
