1. Plan some time off for him

It may not be the right time to whisk your husband off to exotic islands for a holiday, but you can plan a short trip where he can unwind. He is obviously not going to be in the frame of mind to take the initiative and plan a holiday. The onus of handling the trip will be on you. Traveling can be an effective way of getting his mind off his career setback and start afresh.

2. Give him some inspiring books to read

Inspiring and motivational books can be good mood up lifters in times of crisis. Urge your husband to read biographies of successful people, self help books or quotes that can rejuvenate his mind. He will be able to relate to stories of how other people rose to success after facing an emotional, physical or financial setback.

3. Be as cheerful as you can

The last thing your husband wants to see after his own worries is your dull face. He may not verbalize it but he will be likely to look to you for some hope, confidence and inspiration. Stop breaking down and be at your cheerful best. Your smiles and laughs will lighten up the mood in the house and he will be able to inch towards getting over his loss.
