6 Tips On How to Quit Smoking

Smoking is injurious to health! This is one of the most commonly used phrases in the world. Many smokers try to kick the butt every day but it’s not as easy as it seems if you’re an addict. The nicotine present in cigarettes alters the balance of chemicals in your brain and affects mainly two chemicals, dopamine and noradrenaline. This changes your mood and concentration level which make it seem enjoyable. Nicotine directly enters your brain to create such changes. It is also addictive because, the more you smoke, the more your brain gets used to it and the more you’ll have to smoke to get the same effect. That said here are a few tips on how to quit smoking.

1. Set a date

Pick a day to stop it once and for all. Of course you’ll need a lot of willpower for that. Nevertheless, don’t feel let down by constant cravings. Decrease your intake gradually until the deadline you’ve set. This will help you to get used to lesser intake of nicotine.

2. Tell everyone about your quitting plans

Although, this may seem trivial, it plays a very critical role. When you’ve told everyone about something, you end up doing it diligently. Some do it because they don’t want to be mocked while others may do it because they want to keep their word. Whatever the reason, it helps you to quit.

3. Stay positive

You may feel too tempted to have a puff but fight back. Even a small drag which may seem harmless, will drastically change your mind. You don’t want that, do you? Keep your eyes straight and think about the long term effects of your decision to quit. Like the old saying goes, ‘Where there is a will, there is a way.’
