6 Tips on How to Help Your Kids Make New Friends

4. Enroll your child in a group hobby or activity

One of the ways in which you can help your kids to make friends is to enroll them in a group activity or a hobby which will force them to meet and interact with other kids of their age. This could include choir singing, playing a sport or going to craft class.

5. Teach by example

Your kids are likely to behave, act and understand life in the way you behave, act and live you own life. If you are a lonesome person who does not have much social interaction or friends, your kids are likely to be the same way. If you want your kids to have more friends and make them understand the value of friendship in life, then you have to increase your own social interaction too.

6. Guide your children through social skills

Don’t expect your kids to have inborn social skills. Some kids immediately adapt to social behavior while other kids take time. It may be possible that your kids are unable to make friends because they are introvert and shy. They may not know how to start a conversation or maintain a friendship. You will have to inculcate social skills in them by pointing out useful tips when you are interacting with someone. You may also have to take one more step and teach your kids the unsaid rules of friendship and expectations that two people have from each other after becoming friends.
