6 Tips for Starting a New Relationship

4. Keep lessons from your previous relationship in mind

If you have been in a relationship before, use the lessons you have learnt from your past and apply them in your present. For example, if your ex-boyfriend did not like the fact that you spent most of your time at work with male colleagues, be careful about how you deal with the same situation with your current boyfriend. Many things from your previous relationship will apply to your current one, so take advantage of having prior experience.

5. Space out the way you display your affection

You are likely to feel a surge of emotions when you enter a new relationship. You may feel like doing everything sweet and mushy for your boyfriend in a single day. One of the tips you should use in starting a new relationship is to avoid getting swayed by such emotions. If you become very mushy in the first few days of your relationship and overload your boyfriend with gifts, love poems, romantic texts and other knick knacks, you may come across as obsessive. Space out the way in which you display your emotions.

6. Don’t expect your boyfriend to declare your relationship to everyone very soon

Everyone needs their own space to reveal something about their personal lives. Don’t expect your boyfriend to make a public announcement to his friends about your relationship. Don’t even expect him to change his relationship status on Facebook overnight. Your guy may take some time to tell his friends about you. Give him the time and space he needs, otherwise he will feel stifled.
