6 Reasons Why You Should Avoid Discussing Politics and Religion on Dates

There are few other things in the world that can ignite passions as much as religion and politics. Passion on a first date is always welcome, but you wouldn’t want to bring in passions that could possibly be painful or end up hurting you. Would you? Jokes apart, there are other reasons why you should steer clear from these topics when you are just getting to know that special someone.

1. You are treading on thin ice on a first date

So keep the conversation light. You have no idea of knowing what your date likes, what his leanings are. You wouldn’t want to ruin a good dinner by arguing the merits and demerits of religion and politics.

2. Reason for rejection

Discussing politics and religion on the first date could lead to you rejecting a person without actually getting to know them. Who knows, they could be ignorant, or open to ideas and change their mind in the future.

3. It is a date, not a debate

Because discussing religion or politics usually leads to a heavy conversation or a debate. You do not want to have heated conversations with a person you are just getting to know. First dates are meant for fun.
