1. Gripping story
Argo is a gripping political thriller about a Canadian caper that took place during the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979. The movie unfolds the story of the CIA rescued six American diplomats out of Iran engulfed in revolution. It is a well edited movie which keeps the viewer at the edge of his seat and makes for a good watch. The gripping story of the movie saw it get effortlessly selected among the top movies of 2013.
2. Exceptional performances
As director, Ben Affleck managed to extract brilliant performances from his extraordinary star cast which includes Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Victor Garber in addition to himself. Each of these actors have received significant acclaim in the movies they have done previously and they stick to their successful run in Argo too. Argo deserved an Oscar because all these actors have delivered exceptional performances.

Ben Affleck proved his mettle as an actor and director with his Oscar winning movie Argo. Argo has the combination of the elements that make a movie which has the potential to win an Oscar for Best Picture. Wit and humor well paced storyline, interesting subject, clarity in the way the narrative is shot and great entertainment value. This makes Argo deserving of top honors at the Oscars.
