5 Ways to Control Your Temper Tantrums

5 Ways to Control Your Temper Tantrums

Temper tantrums are a natural outcome of getting angry at the drop of a hat and being irritated and frustrated all the time. Here is how you can control your temper tantrums and save people around you from getting tired of you.

1. Close your eyes and count from 1 to 10

This classic way to tone down anger and its related outcomes is known to work and is recommended by many. The minute you start to realize that your anger levels are rising and you may be about to throw a tantrum soon, try closing your eyes and count slowly from 1 to 10. By doing this, you may feel a wave of calmness overcome you which helps you blow away a completely unnecessary temper tantrum.

2. Keep a distraction handy

Temper tantrums generally emerge from a need to vent out a reaction in urgency. If you can hold your anger even for a minute or two, you can control your temper tantrums easily. Start playing a game on your smartphone, watch TV or start a random conversation with someone. Do anything that can keep you distracted until your anger melts away.

3. Write your feelings down or talk to yourself

If you think that the only way to control your temper tantrum is by finding a way to vent it without anyone noticing, you can write your feelings down in a diary or speak to yourself when you are alone. Whenever you think that you need to vent out a complaint, whine or get irritated about something very menial, write it down. You can read your entries later when you are in a better state of mind. This will help you understand how futile your tantrums were.
