5 Ways to Be a Smart Shopper

Shop till you drop may sound like a good stress buster to you but this philosophy spells disaster for your financial budget. Everything in the market is there to lure us, to tempt us into shelling our hard earned money to buy that thing. It’s up to us to become aware and smart so that we can avoid getting trapped. To help you become a smart shopper, here’s a quick guide.

1. Resist the ‘Sale’ temptation

Don’t pack your bags and go shopping every time you read the word ‘Sale’. While it’s a good thing to wait for sale and actually buy something that you need, now that’s smart shopping. But buying something just because it’s on sale is not a good strategy at all. If you don’t need it, don’t buy it – as simple as that!

2. Come out of the ‘Buy 3 Get 1 free’ circle

You want to buy one branded shirt, but the moment you see the ad proclaiming ‘Buy 3 at the price of 2’ or ‘Buy 3 Get 1 free’, you get into the trap and end up buying more just for that “free” piece, which you might not need also!

3. Ditch the credit card

Well, having a credit card is quite convenient but it actually encourages you to spend more. Every time you see a piece of fancy jewelry or dress that you wanted but can’t afford at the moment, you give in to the temptation and use your credit card. With one swipe, it’s yours! But remember you are carrying the debt that you’ll have to pay later. And if you are not disciplined enough, it will keep on piling and will completely burden you!
