5 Reasons Why You Should Forgive
“Forgiveness is the economy of the heart… forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits.” – Hannah More
Forgiveness is the virtue of excusing others’ fault. It’s a virtue that we all should have but very few of us actually possess. We usually tend to give space to worries and the feeling of revenge in our heart and we forget the very idea of forgiving. By doing so, we unknowingly hurt not just the other person but our own self and our soul. It’s all a matter of our understanding and mind. Since childhood we are taught to forgive and forget but when it comes to apply the same, we only ‘forget’ to ‘forgive’. Perhaps, if you know why you should forgive, you might find it easy to forgive others. Read to know 5 reasons why you must forgive.
1. You are hurting your own self
When you think negatively about someone and remind yourself of the hurt the other person has given you, you tend to hurt yourself, which in no ways makes the other person realize his/her mistake. It does not affect him/her and the one who is at loss is you. Accept the fact that the other person is not even thinking about it and you are wasting your precious time and energy thinking about something that cannot be changed.
2. You allow the person at fault to reside in your mind that too free of cost
Thinking about that person or his mistake doesn’t just hurt you but also allows that person to reside inside your mind, for no good reason. This in no way helps you to overcome your issues or make you a stronger person. On the contrary, it does the opposite of that.
3. It affects your health
Constant worries or thinking about something more than is required is harmful for your own mental as well as physical health.
