How to Reduce Wrinkles on The Face

5 Myths About Aging That You Must Brush Away

Facial wrinkles are the most visible signs of aging. Although facial wrinkles generally stage their appearance in the early 30’s, the indicative onset may be as early as the mid 20’s in the form of gradually deepening lines on the face. Skin on/around the upper lips, eyes, forehead, eyebrows, cheeks and ears is most vulnerable to facial wrinkles.

Over exposure to the sun, stress, pollution, smoking and use of tobacco, unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits, and a lack of a good skin care routine can fasten the skin aging process, and thus facial wrinkles. Skin aging is a natural process which is attributed by a drop in the skin’s collagen levels, elasticity, moisture, and a general tendency to recover. Facial wrinkles can be considerably reduced, if not, completely eliminated by the following steps.

1. Follow a skin care regimen

Inculcate the habit to maintain a healthy skin care regimen from an early age. Don’t underestimate the long term benefits of a good cleansing, toning, moisturizing routine, with products suitable for your age and skin type.

2. Avoid excessive sun exposure & use sunscreen

Medical study has widely documented that the sun’s harmful UV rays have a detrimental effect on skin, thus causing extensive skin damage. It is best to restrict skin’s exposure to direct sunlight, and regularly use a sunscreen with adequate UV protection.

3. Apply anti-aging creams

Consult a dermatologist to prescribe a suitable anti- aging cream, according to your age and skin type. Many over-the-counter creams contain ingredients like Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which are natural fruit acids that remove the top layer of dead cells from the skin and stimulate collagen production. Retinoids have also been proven effective in reducing facial wrinkles. Ask the physician for the suitable ratio of these ingredients (in the cream) though.
