5 Home Remedies for Migraine

Home Remedies for Migraine

Migraines can be extremely difficult and annoying to deal with, especially when you experience them at odd times of the day, such as in the middle of work, or right before going to bed. They can ruin your whole day, and make you feel irritated and cranky. While the factors leading to migraine are different in case of different people, there are some common home remedies to help reduce the discomfort and pain. These are easy-to-execute remedies that do not require consumption of chemical based oral medicines, and work to provide relief in most cases.

1. Inhaling Lavender Oil

Lavender Oil is known to have soothing and relaxing properties. This is the reason why it is commonly used in room fresheners, and in treatments in salons and spas. Inhaling steam of boiling water with a few drops of lavender oil in it can provide quick relief. You can even apply the oil topically on your forehead to get relief.

2. Inhaling Peppermint Oil

Peppermint Oil is very good for maintaining the blood flow in the body, and it opens up and closes the vessels smoothly for proper entry of oxygen into the bloodstream. You can inhale this oil directly or by putting it in hot water to create steam.

3. Pencil Between Your Teeth

Relax your jaw and hold a pencil between your teeth. That causes a lot of facial muscles to relax, thereby easing the tension and stress. Make sure you are not biting the pencil or holding it too hard. Clenching your jaw will make the pain worse, so avoid that completely. Just hold it between your teeth for sometime and relax; the pain will gradually start to subside.
