Richard Gere plays the chauvinistic columnist fired by his editor and chases the story of a runaway bride played by Julia Roberts. This bride jilts at least four men who wait for her at the altar. Fearing to stay committed, Julia chooses to leave her men and finally succumbs to the charm of the character enacted by Gere in this romantic comedy.
3. Father of the Bride
Steve Martin plays the role of the elusive father who finds it difficult to come to terms that his little girl has really grown up and is of marriageable age. He finds every opportunity to cancel her wedding plans because he has no heart to see the little one go on with her life or to step down from the pedestal of being the most important man in her life. Steve does an amazing job in portraying a sympathetic role as a loving father but manages to spin a lot of comedy thereby making the plot an easy and entertaining watch.
4. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Most wedding movies are adored predominantly by the women folks but this movie holds the ubiquitous distinction of being liked by men equally. This 2002 release depicts Greek-American culture where parents have to deal with the differences in culture. Finally, the Greek family consent and get into every minute wedding planning detail and the bride ends up losing all control over the planning affairs. 5. My Best Friend’s Wedding
This 1997 superhit stars Julia Roberts (Julianne), Cameron Diaz (Kimberly) and Dermot Mulroney (Michael) playing the leads. Roberts plays the character of a scheming lady who continues to be deeply in love with her ex who has moved on with life and found love in Kimberly, a naïve and gentle girl. Despite her efforts to sabotage the wedding, Julianne is made the maid-of-honor. Her efforts continue till the day of wedding when she finally realizes that her ex is strongly in love with Kimberly.
