4 Tips on How to Fade Jeans

3. Sand your jeans away

Make sure the pair of jeans you propose to fade fit you comfortably. They should be neither too tight nor too loose. Wear them to identify the areas or spots that you want to fade. Mark those spots correctly. Place sandpaper on those spots and a block of wood on top of it. Gently but firmly rub the block of wood on the spots. Continue the process until you are happy with the results. However, do not rub too hard lest you want to create the torn look on your jeans.

4. Go bleach it out

For the process of bleaching, you will need bleach and a measuring cup. Add a quarter cup or less of bleach to your washing machine. Fill the machine with cold water. Put only the pairs of jeans you propose to bleach in the washing machine. Dry the jeans in the sun to achieve good fading results. If you want to only bleach certain spots, then you can use a bleach pen but do not leave it on the jeans for more than three minutes. Apply and rinse off in three minutes else bleaching will continue to happen for as long as you leave it. If you are considering bleaching your black denim, remember that bleach will make it turn orange.

You can also choose to use chemical dyes for fading your jeans. However, the process may be more expensive and unsafe when exposed to skin. Therefore, wear gloves while handling such chemical products.
