4 Reasons Why The Story of Valentines Day Can’t Be True

3. The story & the celebration don’t match!

If you go back to the story, it is about St. Valentine getting couples married against the King’s wishes. So in that case, Valentine’s day is about marriage. But look around you, this day is today associated with love, not marriage. So you are living in a world with people celebrating a day without really understanding its relevance!

4. Other stories contradict this one

Certain scholars believe that the period from 13th February to 15th February was a holiday to celebrate fertility way before Valentine’s day was even invented! It was a tradition for men to write the names of the women in their village on a particular basket. By this they would come to know with whom they were likely to be for the coming year. Isn’t it a fishy coincidence that this so-called St. Valentine’s too sacrificed himself for love on the same day!

After stating all of the above, let us clarify that we are not against love, nor against those celebrating Valentine’s day. It is a good thing to celebrate. However truly having faith in a story someone told you, just because it sounded so sweet, isn’t the wisest thing to do!
