4 Easy Stretches to Practice Daily

There is a truckload of reasons to stretch – agility, flexibility, grace, better posture, better stamina, increase in calmness, better circulation – but the single most important reason why one must stretch is to prevent any part of the body from rusting! Here are some easy stretches that you can (and should) practice daily.

1. Cat Stretch

This is exactly how it sounds. Ever seen a cat yawning? Replicate the same movement. The best time to do this is when you wake up. Lie on your back, breathe in and as you breathe out stretch your hands and legs, while contracting your center, imagining energy going out of every part of your body. Repeat this exercise for 5-6 times.

2. Roll Downs

Stand with your feet directly under your hips, roll your shoulders back, lengthen your stomach, and make sure your chest is not out. Feel like you are growing, push down the floor and imagine growing from your crown. Now start to roll down by using only your crown, as if someone is pulling you by the top of your head in a downward direction. Try to keep your upper torso as close to your thighs as possible. Your hands should be relaxed, and if you are flexible, try touching the palm of your hands to the floor. You should feel a nice stretch all through your legs to the butt. Now roll up through the spine slowly. Keep breathing throughout, and your stomach engaged.
