13 Ways to Know When Your Makeup Products Will Expire

It’s very important to know the shelf life of your cosmetics because using expired cosmetics may give you infections and rashes. In case of cosmetics, sometimes the expiry date is not written. Also, your makeup products may go bad a lot sooner than the expiry date if they are not handled or stored properly. So here’s a list to help you know when your cosmetics expire:

1. Bad odor

If your makeup product is giving out some bad odor or stink, then it means you should discard it immediately

2. Change in color

If your cosmetics show a change in color over a period of time, then it’s probably expired and you should not use it.

3. Change in viscosity

If you find that your cosmetic has become too runny or watery, then it’s time to dispose it.

4. Visibly clear separation of components

If you can clearly see the components separated in layers, then immediately get rid of that makeup item.

5. Undesirable change in texture

If you find any change in the texture of the product, then it means it is time to dump the product.

6. Presence of oily layer which was earlier not there

If you find an oily layer that has come up on a makeup item which was earlier not there, then that’s a sign of contamination. You should replace the product with a new one.

7. Sedimentation

If you find any sort of sedimentation or some substances settling down in your liquid makeup item, then it’s time to change the item.
