11 Home Remedies for Heartburn

Symptoms of heartburn include discomfort in the stomach, a burning sensation in the chest, bloating, and nausea. There are many over-the-counter medicines that are available for heartburn. However, it is advisable to try simple and safe home remedies for heartburn. There are a number of home remedies for heartburn, some of which are listed here.

1. Water

Drink large quantities of water when mild symptoms of heartburn show up. This is the easiest of the home remedies for heartburn. Warm water will dilute the strong acids in the stomach.

2. Baking soda

A natural antacid available in our homes is baking soda. Mix a small quantity of baking soda in a glass of water. The stomach acid gets temporarily neutralized by this mixture.

3. Fruits

Banana can be eaten in dried or fresh form to relieve heartburn. Apples have a cooling effect on the burning stomach. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water is also effective.

4. Nuts

Chewing almonds and nuts helps a lot in reducing heartburn.

5. Herbal tea

Chamomile and ginger teas are effective neutralizers of stomach acid. Ginger also treats nausea and reduces flatulence.

6. Turmeric

Turmeric is not only a good antiseptic but also helps in enhancing digestion, and prevents the increased secretion of acids.
